When I started to look at the copulas I was disappointed to see no split top. I looked for the assembly but could find none so I decided to make my own.
First I worked on the doors the doors. I measured the inside diameter of the copula the space where the hatch would fit and by mistake found it to be the size of an American dime.
I cut an oval piece of card stock to that dime and then cut them in have in a saw blade pattern. I thinly cut a piece of sprue I had laying around for the lock and used two of the cockpit pieces as handles. Just goes to show do not throw out anything in modeling.
Next came the door hinges. On the provided hatch they have cut a support for the door and a hinge cut away. For mine I wanted more height and more space. I used some card stock and again the sprue and create a hinge and attaching swing arms for the doors.
The final hatch is a rough looking thing but not bad IMO.
